Antonio Rosetti (Rösler, Franz Anton)

Rosetti wrote the work, composed around 1781/82, for the first oboist of the Wallerstein court chapel, Gottfried Klier - a master of his instrument, as the solo part of the concerto easily reveals.

The first movement, in sonata form, is characterized by a unison theme of impetuous character. The Adagio, dipped in typical G minor melancholy, is followed by a cheerful, buoyant rondeau sweep.

The oboe concerto, which appears here for the first time, is in three movements. An extended opening movement in sonata form is followed by a wonderfully atmospheric Adagio in multi-part song form.
